First, we need to design your prosthetic. Each one is created specifically for patients on an individual basis, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. We will use digital technology to take detailed images, measurements, and impressions of your smile. Using the information gathered, we can design a prosthetic and begin the fabrication process. We will craft several prototypes and have patients try them, all to ensure we create the one that fits comfortably and reflects your facial structure. The prosthetic will consist of a base made from acrylic, which is designed to mimic the appearance of natural gum tissue. The teeth will be created using strong and lifelike materials, such as ceramic. We can ensure a beautiful appearance and the ability to absorb bite forces and pressure. Suction will hold them in place, and some patients may also benefit from the use of a special adhesive.
Once you receive your initial set of dentures, you will begin wearing them all day, removing them at night for cleanings and soaking. For some, there will be an adjustment period as you grow more accustomed to your prosthetic. However, after a short time you will grow used to them and often forget you’re even wearing dentures. Throughout this process, remember that we’re here to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.
Even though you may have lost most or all of your natural teeth, that doesn’t mean you won’t still benefit from routine care. If you still have natural teeth, then daily brushing and flossing is essential for keeping them strong and healthy. We also suggest seeing us every six months for a checkup and cleaning. We will examine your smile carefully to assess the health of your smile and the strength of your jawbone. We will also make sure your dentures fit comfortably. If you have any questions about tooth loss or about creating a custom set of dentures, then please contact our team today.
