4 Reasons To Have Your Teeth Cleaned

When was the last time you made an appointment to have your teeth cleaned? Often, we find that people are willing to put off these preventive visits because they assume brushing and flossing are enough. However, there are a number of very good reason to have your teeth cleaned every six months!

Reasons to Have Your Teeth Cleaned

  1. Avoid Bad Breath: When bacteria break down the food particles caught between the teeth, they cause plaque buildup to form. The plaque and tartar can increase the risk of halitosis. However, once a cleaning removes the buildup, you can enjoy fresher breath.
  2. Enjoy a Brighter Smile: Plaque also makes the onset of discoloration more likely, leading to stained teeth. However, having the buildup thoroughly removed, and the teeth polished following the procedure, can help you enjoy a brighter smile!
  3. Prevent Gum Disease: Plaque can irritate the gum tissue, leading to inflammation (also known as gingivitis). Without removal, this buildup can eventually lead to the onset of periodontal disease. Gum disease can cause uncomfortable symptoms and eventually, increase the risk of adult tooth loss. If you notice your gums appear sore and red, or bleed easily, you should see us right away.
  4. Reduce the Threat of Cavities: The buildup also weakens tooth enamel, leading to erosion and eventually, dental cavities. By seeing us for a routine cleaning every six months we can reduce the risk of dental cavities. Remember, an aching tooth could be an indicator of decay. If you have any questions about our dental cleanings, or if you’re ready to schedule a visit for you and your family, then please let us know. We want to help you enjoy a stunning smile for years to come!
