A Dental Prosthetic Can Restore An Incomplete Smile

Whether you have lost one, several, or all of your teeth, a prosthetic can help you regain an attractive smile. If you have full or non-consecutive tooth loss, your dentist may recommend dentures to treat your missing teeth. For patients with a single missing tooth, or conjoined absences, you may be better-suited by a dental bridge. Having a complete set of teeth is more than just a cosmetic advantage – sufferers of tooth loss are at risk for developing issues like TMJ dysfunction, and losing additional teeth.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a permanently-placed insert, which can replace one tooth, or several teeth in a row. While it is not used when a full row of teeth need to be replaced, or in instances where there are non-adjacent absences, a dental bridge can restore isolated tooth loss. The bridge is held in place with the help of the teeth surrounding the bridge.

Dentures

Dentures can replace total tooth loss, while partial dentures can be used when some teeth on a row still remain. Full dentures are removable, and can be affixed to your gum line through suction, or through an adhesive. Partial dentures can be held in place with the assistance of your remaining teeth, and dental crowns implanted to keep a neighboring tooth secure.

Dental Implants

If you have limited tooth loss, but are not an ideal candidate for a dental bridge, you may benefit from dental implants. A dental implant is a metal rod that is fused to your jaw bone, which is then fitted with a replacement tooth. The replacement is held firm by the implant.
